COLLECT MOMENTS NOT THINGS
Most of the time photographers are being hired for big moments. Weddings, a new baby, a birthday. And of course that is super important and should be documented. But what is way more important to me are alllll the little moments that make up your life. The in between moments. The little routines and traditions that we all have. These little snippets will transport you back to this point in time immediately.
They will make you feel all the good feels. (And the rough ones, because life is messy.) You want a reflection of your beautifully imperfect life, not a production of someone else’s idea of it. I will turn your "normal" into something you will look back on with love and a smile on your face. In my family photography session you can expect a 80/20 ratio of candid shots to smiling at the camera portraits. The perfect combo!
All sessions already include a certain amount of digital files but you can purchase more than that. For detailed information and pricing please shoot me an email!
Frequently Asked Questions
Where and when will the session take place?
Where is totally up to you! You favourite place is your home? Everyone loves the beach and climbing some rocks? Whatever works best for your family is where we take your photos. Time wise it depends on where the session is taking place. Outside would be within 2 hours of sunset/sunrise. For in-home, let’s talk about when the light is best in your home.
What should we wear?
No matching please. Some colour coordination is great but everyone wearing the same outfit is not ideal. Wear something that feels like you and makes you feel good. I do love pops of colour, my favourites are warm orangey reds, mustard yellows and faded blues. Also no wild patterns and no large logos, they will distract from everything else.
How can I prepare my kids for the shoot?
I often tell parents to show the kids my instagram account to see I’m a mum. Show them my website. Let them pick an outfit you both love. Ask them if they want a photo of something that means a lot to them. Let them bring their favourite toy. If they are being involved in the process they will enjoy it a lot more.
Can I order prints and albums through you?
Yes you can. The last two decades I worked as a graphic designer so I’m more than happy to take that album design out of your hands and off your to do list. Prints in all forms and sizes, from calendars and gallery boards to canvases, everything can be ordered directly from your gallery. Super easy.
What if my kids won’t cooperate?
Don’t worry at all. We’ll get that family portrait of the family you are, and with them in it as they are. Making sure the kids are fed and not stressed by other events that day usually is enough. Don’t threaten them, but we might use a little bribe here and there ;)
Are you shooting digital or film?
I shoot both. For mini sessions it will be digital only. Everything else will be a mix. I love the look and feel of analog film, the process of taking more time to frame a picture and being more intentional about it. To me it’s the medium of memories.
Do you also do family videos?
I’m more than happy to discuss that with you. I have a strong background in documenting art events and have been creating many vacation videos for friends and family. Let me know if this is something you are interested in!
Would you travel to take our family photos?
Yes for sure! Just let me know when you would want me and where and we’ll see if we can work something out. I'm regularly in Germany for extended periods, travel to Bali once a year (and it's a short flight from HK) and would love to spend more time in my 3rd home Australia.
I’m not sure if the documentary, candid style is for me or if we want just posed family photos.
How about we mix it up a little then? We can get a few of the classic “everyone look at the camera and smile” shots and then see what happens. The feedback I often get is that the classics are nice and grandma is happy about her framed shot etc etc, but that the others are the ones that make everyone happy to look at over and over again.
